The short version

Your video files never leave your device. All compression happens locally in your browser. We do not upload, store, or process your videos on any server.

What data we collect

Analytics (with consent)

With your consent (via the cookie banner), we use Google Analytics to collect:

  • Pages visited and time spent
  • General location (country/region level)
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Referral source

We also receive anonymized events from the compression tool (e.g., "compression_started", "compression_completed") with aggregate data like compression duration and size reduction percentage. No video content is included in these events.

IP addresses are anonymized. If you decline cookies, no analytics are loaded.

Your video files

We collect zero data from your video files. Video processing happens entirely within your browser using WebAssembly (ffmpeg.wasm). No video data, filenames, or metadata are transmitted to any server.

Cookies

We use a cookie banner to request consent before loading Google Analytics. Your choice is stored in localStorage under the key cookie-consent. If you accept, Google Analytics cookies are set. If you decline, no tracking cookies are set.

Third-party services

  • Google Analytics — used with consent for aggregate site analytics
  • Google AdSense — may display ads on the main site (www.justcompressvideo.com)
  • jsDelivr CDN — serves the ffmpeg.wasm JavaScript library files

Your rights

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage (or clearing site data in browser settings). To opt out of Google Analytics across sites, use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Children's privacy

This service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
